INGROW – a history of its industry and transport

This book provides a history of the some of the industry and transport of Ingrow. It has been prepared to support the exhibition in the Learning Coach, part of which includes a brief overview of the growth of the village. The book takes the subject a step further and by so doing highlights the continual interaction of industry and transport, a theme replicated throughout much of the country.

The book was published as part of the project to overhaul the LNWR Coal Tank No.1054 by members of the Bahamas Locomotive Society, with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The book has been written by Peter W Skellon and published by the Bahamas Locomotive Society.
Illustrated with over 80 photographs and 23 line diagrams and artworks.
It was the joint ‘Railway Book of the Year’ 2012, as awarded by the Railway & Canal Historical Society.

The Photographic Artistry of Rail Cameramen
This 128-page hard backed book (27cm x 21cm) features a wide range of photographs taken by members of the Rail Camera Club who have been familiar figures by the lineside for many years. Depicting many varied style of pictures in colour and monochrome, the book also includes reproductions of some of the earliest railway photographs from the archive of the National Railway Museum together with a history of railway photography in the UK.
Work from 36 photographers is reproduced including work by W J V Anderson, Gavin Morrison, Eric Treacy, John Whiteley etc. and BLS Members John Cooper-Smith, Brian Dobbs, John Hillier and Ross Middleton.
